We will begin our Sacred Valley tour by immersing ourselves in its rich history. Additionally, we will delve into the culture of this storied region.

Our first destination will be the town of Pisac, renowned for its vibrant Pisac Market and imposing Inca ruin. Here, nestled over 2,972 meters (about 9,751 feet) above sea level, we will explore the remarkable Inca sites. Additionally, we will wander through the bustling market. It is a colorful tapestry of local culture and craftsmanship.

Exploring the Living History in Ollantaytambo

Next, we’ll journey to the town of Ollantaytambo. It is an ancient town that is still inhabited. It serves as a living museum of Inca architecture. The town is strategically positioned just 60 kilometers (approximately 37 miles) north of Cusco. 

It is home to some of the most well-preserved Inca ruins in Peru. Ollantaytambo’s massive structures and terraces majestically overlook the valley, offering a breathtaking view.

On the second day, we’ll visit the intriguing Maras Moray archaeological site. The site’s unique circular agricultural terraces descend deep into the earth. They reveal the advanced understanding of agriculture and climate that the Incas possessed.

At Maras, we’ll witness the traditional salt extraction methods at the famous salt pans. This is a sight to behold against the Andean backdrop.

Throughout the tour, we will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch. It will feature local cuisine that reflects the rich culinary heritage of the region. This will be a perfect time to interact with the local people, gaining insight into their customs and daily life.

Food and customs was explained in details for a better understanding of the culture of the Peruvian, especially the Incas. The heat was bearable once we were in the Valley & the higher altitude of Machu Pichu.
