Peru: Machu Picchu & the Sacred Valley 2023

If you’re looking for an adventure of a lifetime, then look no further than Peru in 2023. From the iconic Machu Picchu to the stunning Sacred Valley, Peru is home to some of the world’s most incredible sights and experiences.

Why visit Machu Picchu?

Machu Picchu is one of South America’s most famous attractions and there are plenty of ways to explore it. Whether you want to hike along its ancient Inca trails or take a leisurely train ride through its misty mountainside, this Inca site will leave you awestruck with its beauty and mystery. You can also stay overnight at Aguas Calientes village nearby, so that you can witness Machu Picchu at sunrise – something we highly recommend!

Machu Picchu is an ancient Inca citadel located high in the Peruvian Andes. Built during the 1400s, it was abandoned by its people shortly after the Spanish conquest. It remained unknown to much of the world until 1911, when American historian Hiram Bingham brought attention to it. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Peru’s most popular tourist attractions.

Machu Picchu sits atop a mountain ridge between two peaks at 2,430 meters (7,970 feet) above sea level. Its stone structures are built from blocks cut from local granite and held together without mortar. This ingenious technique have withstood centuries of earthquakes and other natural disasters.

The city has many terraces, temples, plazas, fountains, stairways and dwellings. These structures were likely used for spiritual ceremonies or political gatherings as well as everyday life activities such as farming or food preparation.

The site also features spectacular views overlooking lush valleys below and snow-capped mountains beyond – making Machu Picchu one of Earth’s most beautiful places!

The Sacred Valley of the Incas

The Sacred Valley has been inhabited since pre-Inca times and it offers visitors amazing opportunities for exploration. Take a day trip from Cusco city down into the Sacred Valley, where terraced fields line up against snow-capped peaks like patchwork quilts across the landscape.

You can also visit traditional villages such as Pisac and Ollantaytambo. On these places you can immerse yourself in local culture by trying out crafts workshops, or taking part in traditional ceremonies led by locals, who have kept their customs alive for centuries.

No visit to Peru would be complete without sampling some delicious Peruvian cuisine. Try ceviche (raw fish marinated with lime juice), lomo saltado (stir fried beef) or papa rellena (stuffed potatoes). Wash it all down with a Pisco Sour cocktail made with grape brandy. Just remember not too many as they pack quite a punch!

For those who prefer more active pursuits, why not go rafting on Urubamba River or mountain biking around Maras Salt Mines? Or if relaxation is more your thing, take advantage of the hot springs set amidst lush green vegetation near Santa Teresa town. There’s something here for everyone!

So don’t miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and come join us in 2023. Experience Peru, Machu Picchu & the Sacred Valley!
